Satellite
Internet connection - achieved by converting complex digital
waves into transmittable radio waves.
The satellite Internet connection is one of the most
expensive ways to access the World Wide Web, but it is also one
of the most efficient and quickest ways to do so. A satellite
Internet connection is available in rural areas where there is
no telephone, ADSL or cable available. It is very popular
because it is unique in its ability to connect the user to the
information highway no matter where they are in the world.
A satellite Internet connection works by converting the
digital information in the computer into radio waves that can be
relayed from an earthbound dish to an information hub that
orbits in space. When setting up the service, consumers need to
purchase a dish antenna, a transmitter to send information, and
a receiver to accept information.
Since the satellite Internet connection involves data
transmission between two points that are situated a great
distance from each other, there is a slight time lapse in
transmission data. Such a system is less appropriate for the
transmission of live audio or video signals.
A satellite Internet connection works well for people that
are primarily using it for functions that do not involve real
time. For example, sending and receiving files, downloading
information, and web browsing are activities that are
well-supported by such a system.
A satellite Internet connection can be established from
anywhere on Earth.
