ANGOP to Install Satalite Internet System
Countrywide.
The Angolan News Agency (Angop) will install
satalite internet communication systems in all its branches
countrywide before the end of the year, its Managing Director,
Manuel Miguel de Carvalho "Wadijimbi", said over the weekend in
Dondo, Kwanza Norte province.
Mr Wadijimbi made this statement at the end of
48-hour visit to that province, where he inaugurated this
communication system at the Angop branch, and attended an
ecumenical service, under the festivities of the 2nd anniversary
of the signature of peace accords, signed April 4.
Manuel Miguel de Carvalho added that the same
system will be installed in the provinces of Namibe, Huila,
Cunene, Kuando-Kubango, Zaire, Lunda-Sul and Uige as soon as the
technicians move there assess the needs.
He said his visit to Kwanza-Norte was positive
because the inauguration of such undertaking will allow local
journalists to access national and international information
on-line, what means a great advance for the local social
communication.
During his stay there the Angop Director held a
meeting with his local staff for exchange of view points and
identification of main problems. The also Secretary General of
the Angolan Journalists Union (UJA) also met other journalists
based in that province.
The Internet system started being installed in
May 2003, and Bengo province was the first one to benefit from
this system.
