Datafast acquires Paradox Digital.
Internet service provider (ISP) Datafast
Telecommunications has acquired a wholesale ISP, Paradox
Digital, from the company's administrator Korda Mentha.
Paradox Digital, a former Western Australia-based
wholesale bandwidth internet service provider, would complement
Datafast's existing wholesale operations, chief executive Simon
Ehrenfeld said in a statement.
"Wholesale revenues are continuing to grow with
the current rise in broadband uptake through smaller ISPs, who
do not operate their own infrastructure, and are looking
increasingly at outsourcing models".
ISPs were increasingly converging in Australia
and smaller providers had to remain competitive, he said.
Ehrenfeld would not disclose the acquisition
price, but said it was not a significant purchase.
In early 2001 Perth-based Fleet Broadband took
majority ownership of Paradox, which was an early pioneer in
wholesale bandwidth provision.
