BendBroadband boosts cable-modem speeds.
Firm also offers three tiers of service - Lite,
Classic and Deluxe.
The speed of BendBroadband’s InstaNet high-speed
Internet service continues to accelerate and the company also
announced Friday the addition of two new residential high-speed
InstaNet service levels.
InstaNet Classic, the company’s flagship
high-speed Internet service since 1998, is now faster than ever,
providing downloads at up to 3.0 Mbps. The speed increase is due
to an ongoing phased upgrade following the $12 million dollar
infrastructure rebuild within the company’s service area
completed in mid-summer of 2003.
The Classic service is now joined by two
counterparts - Lite and Deluxe - on either end of the high-speed
spectrum. The move provides customers with greater choice to
match their needs for Internet speed and pricing, officials
said.
BendBroadband cable TV customers can now
experience true broadband speed at an introductory price of
$26.95 for the first 3 months of InstaNet Lite. InstaNet Lite,
which offers download speeds of up to 1.5 Mbps, is priced at
$33.95 after the initial 90 days trial offer. The Classic and
Deluxe services offer even higher speeds (3.0 Mbps and increased
upload capacities) at price points of $36.95 and $44.95
respectively.
BendBroadband’s free, local, and expert technical
support is included at every InstaNet service level.
BendBroadband was the first cable company in
Oregon to introduce high-speed Internet service. In the last
five years, InstaNet has become the most popular and
highest-rated Internet service in Central Oregon in terms of
customer satisfaction. InstaNet enjoys the distinction of some
of the nation’s highest cable modem penetration numbers.
The strength of InstaNet in Central Oregon also
mirrors the growth of residential broadband penetration
nationwide.
Nationally, broadband connections grew by 2.14
percent in February, with just over 45 percent of
Internet-connected U.S. households now enjoying a high-speed
connection. Another 54 percent of US home users continue to dial
into the Internet with "narrowband" connections of 56Kbps or
less. Almost 75 percent of U.S. households now have Internet
access at home, according to a recent Nielsen//NetRatings
survey.
“The introduction of InstaNet choices recognizes
the fact that Internet usage and speed requirements differ from
user to user,” says Ray Spreier, BendBroadband’s co-president.
“Once you’ve spent a few years using the Internet, the scope of
your Internet activity logically expands.”
“We are seeing more and more customers
telecommuting and using multiple computers in the home; many
customers are also playing a variety of online games and sending
multimedia files to friends and family. In general, there are
numerous activities which are greatly enhanced by higher
bandwidths. When users reach a certain point in their online
evolution, they naturally feel the urge to graduate to a
high-speed connection, in order to remove any roadblocks to
their online experience.”
