SlipStream Data Enables New Fast Dial-Up Service
From TELUS
Launch of new TELUS fast dial-up service gives
customers in Western Canada accelerated Internet access at an
affordable price.
SlipStream Data Inc. today announced that the
company's web and email acceleration technology has been
selected by TELUS, the largest telecommunications company in
Western Canada and second largest in the country. The newly
launched TELUS Fast Dial-up service will dramatically improve
the speed of Internet service for dial-up customers in B.C. and
Alberta.
"TELUS is leveraging our technology to help
differentiate their services in an already very competitive
market," said Ron Neumann, president of SlipStream Data Inc.
"Our software will provide TELUS with a means of improving
overall customer satisfaction and retention. This is because
dial-up users will no longer feel frustrated waiting to surf the
web or download email, resulting in a better on-line
experience."
Adding TELUS Fast Dial-up to existing dial-up
services provides customers with up to five times faster web
browsing and improved email capabilities. TELUS' dial-up
Internet service with Fast Dial-up includes integrated Spam
Control, a web-based email account, 24 x 7 technical support,
and 10 MB of web space. Fast Dial-up is available for an
additional $2.95 per month on existing dial-up plans. The
service will also be introduced this summer by TELUS Quebec
under the name "Turbo GT."
"Our dial-up customers can greatly benefit from
the performance improvements the TELUS Fast Dial-up service
offers," said James Goliath, vice president, consumer product
marketing. "The new service provides dial-up customers with an
enhanced Internet experience compared to what has been
traditionally available."
SlipStream is the defacto standard in the
accelerated dial-up market, with over 750 ISP Partners
worldwide. The company's sophisticated web and email
acceleration technologies compress, optimize and streamline web
content, providing a dramatic improvement in access speeds over
traditional dial-up and wireless networks. This technology gives
ISPs a fast and flexible way of rolling out additional
value-added services that can be fully branded. It also enables
ISPs to reduce subscriber churn by offering users a more
fulfilling online experience.
