New Internet service opens in Spring Creek
Susanna Dorr is back in Spring Creek with a new
Internet service in partnership with Cheryl Powder.
Mighty Moose is the name of the new service,
which provides dial-up access and e-mail service with virus and
spam filtering, according to Dorr.
The business also offers personal computer
repairs, tutoring and technological support.
"We're mostly interested in focusing on residents
of Spring Creek. We want to keep the business small and
manageable," said Dorr, who sold an earlier Internet provider
service for health reasons.
"We're not looking to compete with high-speed
Internet. We're reaching out to those who don't need
high-speed," she said.
Dorr moved to Homer, Alaska, after selling her
earlier business, and she said Alaska was one inspiration for
the name for the new business.
The other inspiration comes from Powder, who
comes from Manitoba, Canada.
Dorr and Powder have two Internet sites,
mightymouse.us, which is for technical purposes, and
outbacknevada.us, which is a Web site with links to many area
entities.
"I want to do local color on the Outback," Dorr
said.
Dorr has 25 years of experience with computers
and nine years of experience with the Internet, and Powder has
worked for an Internet provider for more than four years.
