IDC Wins $2.7 Million in Contracts to Provide
Broadband Satellite Network for Asia.
International Datacasting Corporation (IDC) (TSX:
IDC) announced today that it has been awarded contracts to
provide a state-of-the-art broadband satellite network for the
distribution of multimedia content across Asia. The contracts,
which are valued at approximately $2.7 million, include the
provision of systems integration services and equipment needed
to establish operational uplinks in Singapore and Hong Kong plus
satellite router appliances sufficient to equip over 1500 sites.
Although the customer declined to be identified for competitive
reasons, it was disclosed that the system will be used to
distribute real-time financial and commodities data to
subscribers across the Pacific Rim.
The system being provided features IDC's latest
SuperFlex satellite technology-a technology based on Digital
Video Broadcasting (DVB), the industry open standard that
enables cost effective point-to-point distribution of broadband
multimedia content (video, audio and other digital data) with
Internet Protocol (IP) connectivity to other networks. The
satellite router appliance provided by IDC is the latest release
of the SRA2100 product line - selected because it provides the
reliable high-speed delivery and advanced network functionality
as well as real-time conditional access and IP level decryption
of multiple channels of data that the customer requires.
IDC President and CEO Ron Clifton commented,
"This is an important win for us. IDC is becoming increasingly
recognized as the leader in terms of functionality, reliability,
and innovation within our market space. It is gratifying to see
our focus on new products and our continued presence in
international markets being rewarded. We look forward to a
long-term relationship with this customer and the likelihood of
significant follow-on orders."
Delivery and installation of the system is
expected to be completed before the end of the year.
